GIS Support Specialist – Palm Beach County ISS/GIS

Position: GIS SUPPORT SPECIALIST (Closing date is Friday, 5/29.)
Salary: $48,081 Annually
Department: Information Systems Services/ISS Platform Services
Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 400 P.M., Monday – Friday
Other: Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

pbcgov-logoSpecialized, technical work in the analysis of topology, graphic features and databases of a Geographic Information System (GIS) involving the coordination and development of GIS projects within a department. Performs all modules or GIS software applications; may include preparation of GIS strategic plans; determines GIS needs for divisions within a department; coordinates GIS activities with County-wide GIS; prepares request for proposal documents for contract GIS work; provides support for all GIS projects within the Department and coordinates construction or renovation projects throughout the County requiring Information Systems Services (ISS) Network Services support. Work is performed with independent judgment under general supervision and is reviewed for accuracy, technical knowledge demonstrated and achievement of desired results in completing GIS applications. Evaluation of work is based on quality of results obtained, conferences, feedback from customers and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Surveying/Mapping, Engineering, Computer Science or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience utilizing GIS software applications. Equivalencies: Related Associate’s Degree OR equivalent academic training from a technical institute/formal military education program (minimum of 900 classroom hours) OR an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree AND three (3) years of related experience; highschool/equivalent and five (5) years of related experience.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Using ArcGIS, ArcPad, ArcSDE, Oracle Spatial, TOAD, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL software (must specify on application); using Feature Manipulation Engine (FME), Visual Studio, Crystal Reports, MS Office software.
